CIBERINFEC, the CIBER thematic area of Infectious Diseases, was launched in 2022 to contribute to improving the health of society by reducing the negative impact of infectious diseases on the individual health of people and on the general health status of the population.The 46 research groups that comprise it work on four major research programs: Global Health, emerging and re-emerging infections;antimicrobial resistance;HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted infections;and infections in non-HIV immunocompromised patients and healthcare-associated infections.
CIBER is a consortium dependent on the Instituto de Salud Carlos III through the Ministry of Science and Innovation. The CIBERINFEC area is supported by NextGenerationEU- (CB 2021).
